plastic surgery
is becoming increasingly popular because the price is declining, technology is
increasing and recovery is faster and less painful. Although maybe still quite
expensive, however
not close to the
price it used to be.
Costs associated
with plastic surgery are sometimes borne by your insurance company depending on
the reason for the surgery. For example, if you have a torn earlobe the
insurance company has to pay for trauma repairs. You can find out what will and
will not be covered by contacting the insurance company itself and talking to
its representative. Most insurance companies usually state that
pre-certification does not really ensure that the operation will be covered,
but this type of operation is usually borne by the company.
Prices for
plastic surgery commonly covered by insurance companies vary. Most insurance
companies negotiate prices for general surgery, which is what they will pay the
surgeon. You will then be responsible for co-payments or deductions, depending
on your insurance coverage.
When you call
the office of a plastic surgeon to ask about costs associated with plastic
surgery, you should ask what is included in the fee. Surgeons' fees are usually
only 60-80% of the bill. There will also be hospital fees (if necessary),
operating room and anesthesia fees. Plastic surgeons will give a price quote
but keep in mind that this price quote is based on general surgery that does
not include treatment for adverse reactions to drugs, infections, blood clots
or fluid retention, all risks of plastic surgery.
Don't choose
your doctor based on the price of plastic surgery but rather on the trust,
training, experience and facilities in which they practice. Choosing a surgeon
based on cost can jeopardize your safety and result in health problems or need
for follow-up. That negates your desire for low cost procedures from the start.
You cannot put a price tag on your health.
Costs associated
with plastic surgery can vary across the country. in the United States, the
American Society of Plastic Surgeons (PPPS) has collected national average
prices for the five main cosmetic surgery procedures:
Breast
enlargement Rp. 30,600,000
Remodeling nose
Rp. 32,650,000
Liposuction Rp.
21,250,000.
perasi eyelid
Rp. 24,450,000.
Tightening the
stomach Rp. 42,500,000.
Prices for
plastic surgery are national averages for surgeon fees and do not include
operating room costs, hospitalization (if needed), or anesthesia.
Interestingly
PPPS estimates that the total amount of costs associated with plastic surgery
to be incurred in 2006 will exceed Rp. 93 trillion for the cost of a surgeon
alone. These estimates include the amount spent on minimally invasive surgery,
as well as more comprehensive operations such as breast enlargement, stomach
tightening and nose formation.
Prices for
plastic surgery may vary slightly throughout the world but many are found to be
relatively the same except those performed in New York, USA. The plastic
surgery price range is 25-50% greater in New York. Because all the same, the
cost of plastic surgery should not be a determining factor when you choose a
surgeon.
