How to Prevent Heartburn during Pregnancy

Eartburn or also called heartburn does not only affect people who are stressed or like spicy food. Pregnant women also experience heartburn. You will find when pregnancy continues that antacids will tend to be your best friends. Heartburn (heartburn) has nothing to do with your heart.
Heartburn occurs when the acid from your stomach gets to
esophagus, and this is very common during pregnancy. Even one in four heartburn experiences in pregnant women occurs during the third trimester. The reason is that the baby that grows in your uterus moves up so that it puts pressure on your stomach. This pressure disrupts the digestive system and makes acid return to the esophagus. There is a belief that if you have a severe heartburn, your baby will have lots of hair. Of course there is no evidence for this, but it is a pleasant thing to believe.
There are several ways that can help you prevent heartburn during pregnancy. You can start by extending mealtime. You will not only enjoy your food better but your stomach also doesn't have to work hard to digest your food. Try to eat early and eat at least two hours before you go to bed so that your body has plenty of time to digest food.
Take care of your meal portions. Eat six times a day with small portions. because eating large portions tends to fill your stomach which has been depressed by the presence of a baby in your uterus. A full stomach will make it easier for acid to rise to the esophagus.
Also make sure you separate solid and liquid foods. Too much liquid mixed with solid food can fill the stomach and worsen heartburn. You must be in a sitting position when eating. Don't eat while lying down, and if you want to eat snacks before going to bed make sure that you lean on the pillow.
Your weight also takes part in how severe heartburn can be experienced. The bigger your body, the more pressure you place on your esophageal sphincter. This is another reason why you should not gain more weight than suggested.
Find out what foods cause your stomach ulcers. Once you know what foods cause stomach ulcers, you can eliminate them from your diet. Some foods that you may have to avoid are spicy foods that are too spicy, soda, tomato sauce, chocolate, and some types of oranges. Oily foods are also a big contributor to heartburn. Eliminating greasy, fried foods will help prevent heartburn.
When prevention fails, use something for your ulcer. Tums and Rolaids are perfectly safe for consumption during pregnancy. If you are not comfortable using drugs you can try several natural ways such as eating a handful of almonds. Almonds are a comfort to your stomach and can help with your heartburn. Another natural remedy is one tablespoon of honey mixed with milk is a favorite for preventing ulcers.
Like some discomforts in pregnancy, heartburn is one that can be avoided as long as you do your eating activities correctly. Even without heartburn, your baby can still be born with a head full of hair.
